Rewarding research that continues the evolution of medicine

Applications are now open for the Medicines New Zealand 2018 Value of Medicines Award. This award highlights fundamental, translational and clinical research into both existing and emerging medicines and vaccines.
Researchers, clinicians, professors, and academics are all welcome to enter their recently published research for the opportunity to win $20,000 to further their research.
“This award targets committed New Zealanders who work to reveal breakthroughs for modern medicines or current existing medicines. We know many researchers are working on innovative projects to provide better health outcomes for patients and this opportunity rewards them for doing just that,” says Dr Graeme Jarvis, General Manager of Medicines New Zealand.
The Value of Medicines Award has been rewarding breakthrough research since 2011. Past recipients received the award for innovative research for treatments such as gout, asthma and osteoporosis.
“New Zealand has its part to play on the world stage for pioneering studies for new treatments, we have some of the best minds right on our back doorstep. Though we haven’t overcome many hurdles to access modern medicines for our patients we can still provide data and credible research to help improve patient outcomes on an international scale,” says Dr Jarvis.
Researchers can now apply through a quick and easy process on the Medicines New Zealand Website.
