Public encouraged to have their say regarding Health

Media Release - 26 July 2018

Public encouraged to have their say regarding Health and Wellbeing in Palmerston North

Residents and groups of Palmerston North and its surrounding communities are invited to share their views on what affects the health and wellbeing of people and families/whānau in their community.

MidCentral District Health Board is developing a Health and Wellbeing Plan for Palmerston North City, Aokautere, Ashhurst, Bunnythorpe, Linton and Longburn; and is hosting two public input drop-in sessions. These will be in the foyer of the Globe Theatre, 312 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Tuesday 31 July between 12pm and 1.30pm and then between 3pm and 4pm.

MidCentral DHB project manager Angela Rainham said the Health and Wellbeing plan for Palmerston North will help the DHB to better understand the priority needs of people and families/whānau within the city and surrounding areas.

“Local residents and groups can have a say about what is working well and what the main challenges are for keeping people healthy and well in our city. It places people and families/whānau at the centre of planning decisions,” she said.

People can also share their views online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/PNHealthandWellbeing. Do so by Sunday 12 August and go in a draw to win a $100 New World voucher.

Ms Rainham said they want to get input from as many residents as possible during the community engagement phase of the project.

“So far in our Community Engagement many different factors have been identified that impact our health and wellbeing. We will look at the common themes in all of the feedback we receive to identify the biggest issues/challenges for our local communities.”

Plans for Manawatū, Horowhenua, Ōtaki and Tararua have been completed and are available on the Locality Planning page on MidCentral DHB’s website www.midcentraldhb.govt.nz
