Get Inspired at the National Zero Suicide Forum 2018
Each week I see news reports and read data telling me that there is a growing need to increase and improve the support that those experiencing mental distress can access in New Zealand. That is part of the story that the current Mental Health Inquiry is gathering, and we are not alone in this. I am however confident that consistent progress is being made by Kiwi’s in providing compassionate and hope-building services to our communities.
One of the most sobering aspects is just how many people seem to fall between the cracks still, and it was this desire to close these cracks that became the driving force behind the Zero Suicide movement in healthcare. We are now seeing this approach adopted widely by health and social service providers, educators, prisons and others with a commitment to take meaningful steps of compassion and safety.
We would like to personally invite you to join us at the National Zero Suicide Forum in Auckland on the 19th of June for a day of professional development, inspiration and celebration.
There you will:
• Hear from groups working hard to improve services and access across New Zealand and Australia
• Be able to talk openly with the Mental Health Inquiry Panel about your concerns and aspirations
• Hear what is actually working globally in suicide prevention
• Learn more about identifying and treating self-harming behaviours (which is evidently widespread) from a practitioners who has worked with thousands of young people
• Get some insight into grassroots Maori and Pasifika service approaches
• Hear how some of our DHB’s are working hard to improve service access and responsiveness, and
• Network with a stunning group of delegates and speakers who share your passion to make a positive difference in New Zealand’s mental wellbeing.
The National Zero Suicide Forum is designed for those who provide support in their communities to people with suicidal thoughts. This can be clinicians, educators, social workers, peers, advocates and those with a heart for supporting those who experience mental distress.
Visit the website to learn more about this great day or register
I look forward to seeing you there.
