After many years of reminding blokes to ‘get checked’ and raising awareness of the number one cancer in Kiwi men, Sir
Peter Leitch is stepping down as Patron of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
“His forthright approach has resulted in saving the lives of many men through his challenge to them to get checked,” says Foundation CEO Graeme Woodside.
Sir Peter has been a constant supporter of Blue September, speaking at countless events and functions, including his
famous fundraising lunches with people such as Sir Paul Holmes and Leighton Smith whom he encouraged to share their
prostate cancer experiences.
We acknowledge the tremendous work that our outgoing Patron, Sir Peter Leitch, has done for the organisation over many
years, and at our recent AGM members voted unanimously to make him an Honorary Member of the Foundation.
“It was my pleasure to meet with Sir Peter and present him with his Certificate, he is unique and irreplaceable and we
applaud his dedication to supporting our organization for many years,” says Graeme.
We wish him and Lady Janice well as they slow down the pace of life and enjoy their retirement from the busy schedule of
engagement they had had with many charities.
