HealthTech Week brings you the future

Published: Tue 15 May 2018 12:24 PM
The annual showcase of technology by and for the health sector kicks off on June 11 in Auckland with a series of clinical trials and workshops.
Some of the country’s brightest minds will be talking about their work, the future of health technology and New Zealand’s role in providing healthcare in this era of constant change.
International guest speakers include Google’s head of healthcare solutions, Aashima Gupta, talking about how Google helped Chile to streamline and share its health data, and Patrick Combes, the global technical leader in healthcare and life sciences at Amazon, who will be talking about how the retail giant can help New Zealand’s health sector.
Day two sees panel discussions on industry supply chain trends and the need to align clinical practices, which will see Pharmac take on the role of assessing medical devices.
Faye Sumner, CEO of the Medical Technology Association of New Zealand (MTANZ) says the event is going from strength to strength.
“We’re delighted by the range and scope of the speakers we have this year, and by the quality of the workshops and panels. There really should be something for everyone with an interest in medical technology,” says Faye.
HealthTech Week runs over four days and has grown to incorporate several workstreams designed to appeal to specialists, general practitioners and the public as well.
From the hard-core work on clinical trials through to the Innovation Awards to panel sessions featuring leaders in MedTech procurement (Private and Public), there’s something for everyone.
“Kiwis really love to hear about advances in medical science and we have some of the finest minds in the country talking about just that. Whether it’s robotic limbs, new ways of securing and matching data or how to manage surgical interventions being performed in a mobile surgical suite on the other side of the country, at HealthTech Week we showcase it all,” says Faye.
HealthTech Week runs from June 11 to June 15 in Auckland’s Aotea Centre. Visit: www.healthtechweek.nz for more information.
