Smokefree South’s 12 Days of Smokefree Christmas
Southern DHB Smokefree team are going festive again this year with another version of the 12 days of Christmas!
This year, to encourage people to stop smoking the team have created 12 posts which will be posted daily on the
Smokefree South Facebook page. Each post has a different theme.

People who smoke and are keen to give stopping a go are asked to ‘like’ the page and contact the Smokefree team who can
refer them to the Southern Stop Smoking Service for help and support to stop smoking. These people are then entered into
a draw to win one of 12 $50 Warehouse vouchers.
The 12 Days of Smokefree Christmas starts on the 1st December and runs through to the 18th December (weekends are
excluded). The Smokefree team will also relaunch the fun video they created last year featuring staff, colleagues in the
community, mayors and lots of wonderful children
“This campaign was fun to produce, but the message is serious as we really want to encourage people to stop smoking.
We’re here for support and we’re hoping that people will engage in the Smokefree South Facebook page and give themselves
and their family a fabulous gift of stopping smoking for Christmas” said Southern DHB Smokefree Coordinator Debby
Newton.
“We have also engaged with many of our colleagues in the community (GPs, pharmacists, social service agencies) to get
behind the campaign by sharing the daily posts on their business Facebook pages.”
