Whangarei Hospital kitchen is being renovated
From 30 October the kitchen at Whangarei Hospital will be closed for two weeks while the floor is completely re-sealed.
Our patients will continue to receive quality nutritious meals, although there will be slightly less choice on the menu.
The former Delivery Suite, on the first floor of Whangarei Hospital, has been blessed by Kaumātua and fitted out as a temporary kitchen for the purpose of preparing, cooking, serving and delivery of meals for patients.
Delimarche Café, located at the main hospital entrance, have agreed to extend their opening hours for visitors and staff. Between October 30 and November 18, their hours will be 7am and 7pm on weekdays and 9am and 4.30pm on weekends.
Staff will be able to buy salads, sandwiches and cold drinks from the hospital café (Vibe café on the lower ground floor) and continue to use the café for their meal breaks.
Northland DHB is also exploring mobile hot food options for staff and visitors during the lunchtime period while works are completed.
