Primary Health Alliance welcomes Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand into its fold

The Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand (the Guild), the membership organisation representing community pharmacy owners, has become a full member of the Primary Health Alliance in a move which clearly signals the intent of both organisations to work collaboratively to further benefit the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

“The overriding focus of the Primary Health Alliance is the health of our population and we continue to say that cannot be addressed by any one single professional group or organisation working in isolation. Primary Health Alliance members believe a sector-wide multi-disciplinary partnership approach will secure the best outcomes for patients and that is why we are delighted to welcome the Guild to work alongside our growing sector-wide membership on that journey” says Primary Health Alliance chairman, John Ayling.

The Primary Health Alliance has long-standing working relationships with a wide number of strategic partners from across the sector. The growing recognition of the importance of multi-disciplinary partnerships and their contribution to health outcomes has been widely welcomed.

Andrew Gaudin, Chief Executive of the Guild, says, “The Guild is grateful for the opportunity to be working alongside Primary Health Alliance members who clearly see how a collaborative and integrated health care sector can benefit our population and help improve health outcomes. We look forward to representing community pharmacy on the alliance.

“Community pharmacy plays a pivotal role in primary health care, providing professional and accessible health care services to patients in the heart of their community. Facilitated to work at the top of scope, pharmacists have an important and significant role to play in contributing to the mutual objective of a healthier New Zealand.”
