Politicians Take The Plunge
Politicians put aside their political differences and plunged into an icy tub for Heart Kids.
Hon. Paul Goldsmith jumped into the 10 degree water for six minutes as part of the annual 360Heart Stopper Challenge for Heart Kids NZ.
Every week 12 babies are born with a heart defect, Heart Kids is the only organisation in New Zealand supporting them through life.
Mr Goldsmith shared the tub with a number of Auckland business leaders and says while he’s spent a few seconds in icy rivers around the country, 360 seconds or six minutes seemed like an eternity.
The National candidate was joined by Greens MP Julie Anne Genter, and Greens candidate Ricardo Melendez March, and also Labour’s Helen White. Julie Anne Genter says she found the experience pretty refreshing, being a fan of cold water plunges.
