Generous grants available for health and well-being charities
Registered charities helping to improve the health and well-being of Aucklanders can apply for grants of $20,000 or more from the ProCare Charitable Foundation, open from today.
The Foundation grants programme is open from 8 September until 31 October at 5pm.
The programme distributes $200,000 to eligible groups whose work promotes or delivers health-related activities, addresses inequality, advances education and improves health outcomes.
Now in its third year, the Foundation was set up so members in the ProCare general practice network - and others wishing to donate to the Foundation - can support worthy registered charities.
Foundation chairman June McCabe says: "The Foundation gets to support some amazing work by charity groups that really understand the communities they serve, and how to make a practical difference to people’s lives. They are also often reliant on grants to survive and thrive and support new ideas and projects.
"As health professionals ourselves, our members want to empower these groups, so that innovative and meaningful work continues to happen."
Applications are welcome from across a broad spectrum. The fund has previously supported outcomes that include speech therapy for children with Downs Syndrome, a community education programme targeting Maori and Pacific people in low socio-economic areas, and the fit out of a mobile van to deliver health services in rural and isolated Maori communities.
