Canterbury DHB welcomes news of new mental health facilities
Canterbury DHB Board chair Dr John Wood is delighted that the Indicative Business Case for new mental health facilities has been approved.
“This gives us the green light to move forward to the next stage, which is preparing a Detailed Business Case.
“This is fantastic news for our community and will be welcome news for mental health staff – particularly those who are working from outdated facilities.
“The DHB has been really clear about what it requires and we will be doing everything we can to ensure things happen in a timely way and I look forward to the day we can celebrate the start of construction on the Hillmorton site.
“This is a significant first step towards new facilities for our specialist mental health services. I am sure staff will be thrilled to hear that the plan is to have the new facilities completed within three years,” Dr Wood said.
