We are excited to introduce you to the “Take the Time to Talk” Awareness Week run by the Funeral Directors Association
of NZ (FDANZ)this week, 10-13 April 2017. Its aim is to encourage Kiwis of all ages to share their life story and their
wishes about what they want for their funeral.
We feel that Kiwis and the media don’t discuss death and funerals enough, and we hope our campaign gives you the
opportunity, resources, and incentive to create a discussion about this very important topic.
Following last year’s popular inaugural campaign, we are focusing this year on various aspects of a funeral, including
decisions such as who will give the eulogy or say some final words, what people would like to wear for their final
farewell, and what music they would like played.
‘Take the Time to Talk’ discussions can help families make important decisions about how they wish to remember and
honour the lives of their loved ones.
We encourage you to support this campaign by:
• Publishing articles and interviews on people’s final farewell and/or the meaning of the awareness week.
• Using our Facebook or web banners on your site to promote the message with us.
To help with this, I have attached a press release and relevant images that we hope you can use during Take the Time to
Talk Awareness Week, between 10-13 April.
