Public hospital senior doctors and dentists support action on sugary drinks
The Association of Salaried Medical Specialists (ASMS) supports the New Zealand Dental Association’s call for action to reduce the harm caused by sugary drinks.
“Dental specialists in public hospitals see the unfortunate effects of sugary drinks on the teeth of young children and other very vulnerable groups, and they have been concerned about this for some time,” says Ian Powell, ASMS Executive Director.
“We’re very pleased to support a positive initiative to improve the health of New Zealanders.”
The full consensus statement from the New Zealand Dental Association and partner organisations, including the ASMS, is available at http://www.asms.org.nz/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Consensus-Statement-on-Sugary-Drinks.pdf.
