HealthCare NZ congratulates Attitude Awards winners
HealthCare NZ congratulates the winners of the 2016 Attitude Awards, who were recognised at the Awards dinner last night
at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.
Special Olympics basketball coach Graeme Porter took out the Attitude Sporting Spirit category, sponsored by HealthCare
NZ.
Graeme has committed thousands of hours to supporting basketball in his region, and was selected for the Special
Olympics New Zealand basketball team for the 2007 World Summer Games in Shanghai. He is also the Special Olympics New
Zealand Athlete Representative on the Board, is on the Athletes Committee for the Nelson Club, and represents the
organisation as a Global Messenger.
Graeme lives with an intellectual disability, which mainly affects his speech and literacy. He is married to Nyssa who
he met during high school through their shared love for swimming sports and they have a four-year-old daughter
Lilly-Rose.
“HealthCare NZ is very proud to have been involved with the 2016 Attitude Awards and we extend huge congratulations to
Graeme Porter, as well as all of the other deserving winners and finalists,” HealthCare NZ Chief Executive Jaimes Wood
says.
“As one of New Zealand’s most experienced rehabilitation and disability support providers we pride ourselves on
supporting people to live their lives the way they want to, no matter what disability they may have. This year’s winners
and finalists show that disability is no barrier to achieving amazing possibilities.”
