CanTeen Announces Claudine Young as Acting Chief Executive Officer

Claudine Young has been announced as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of CanTeen, the organisation supporting young people aged 13-24 living with cancer.

Claudine takes on the role as CEO from Bruce Pilbrow who has stepped down from his role at CanTeen to take on another challenge in a field he is passionate about, marketing.

Bruce said of his time at CanTeen that, “we have been on a journey of radical change over the last 19 months reshaping the organisation to be operationally and financially better. We have done that. CanTeen is in much better shape”.

Claudine is a valued senior leader within CanTeen and as General Manager of Members Services, has led the nationwide team. Ensuring young people facing cancer are supported throughout their journey, whether they are a young person diagnosed with cancer, their sibling or have a parent with cancer

Bruce supports the appointment of Claudine Young to take the helm as CEO and says, “When you leave an organisation having a successor is key so we don’t lose momentum. Leaving the organisation in good health is also vital. Claudine is that person for CanTeen. CanTeen is in good hands”.

Claudine has over 20 years of experience in the not for profit sector, both here and in the UK with a focus on the delivery of social services.

Claudine says, “I am pleased to be taking over as CEO from Bruce who has brought incredible energy and passion to the role making sure that CanTeen is in a strong financial and operational position. I am looking forward to working with the staff and members and excited to be leading the organisation into the future.”

CanTeen is the only organisation in New Zealand specifically supporting young people aged 13-24 living with cancer and there is a growing need for the services it provides to the New Zealand community.
