The Neurological Foundation’s Annual Appeal passes $100,000 target:
thank you Mitre 10 for 25 years of support
The Neurological Foundation of New Zealand is thrilled to acknowledge the support of Mitre 10 staff and customers nationally and record that the fundraising total for the 2016 Annual Appeal campaign has passed the $100,000 mark.
Neurological Foundation Executive Director Max Ritchie says Mitre 10’s Annual Appeal sponsorship support has been pivotal to ensuring all donations received from the campaign can be attributed to brain research in New Zealand.
“Further, Mitre 10 is committed to raising awareness of the need for funding of the best brain research to provide for the future health of New Zealanders,” Mr Ritchie says.
This is the 25th year that Mitre 10 has supported the Neurological Foundation’s Annual Appeal, covering the main production costs of the campaign, and distributing envelopes throughout its store networks. For the third year running, Mitre 10 also hosted an in-store promotion called My Amazing Brain! in selected stores nationally. The popular initiative enables children of all ages to learn about the brain and brain health, and to interact with brain scientists.
Mr Ritchie, who has been at the helm of the brain research funding charity for the past 22 years, says the Neurological Foundation values the unique partnership it has with Mitre 10.
“We appreciate very much that the Neurological Foundation and Mitre 10 share important values of community, credibility and longevity – and that we’re proudly New Zealand-focused. Raising funding to ensure that brain research continues in New Zealand is critical – we are very fortunate to have the backing of Mitre 10, and that of its staff and customers,” Mr Ritchie says.
“Supporting the Neurological Foundation’s Appeal is our way of giving something back to our customers and the communities throughout New Zealand that have supported our business for years.
“With one in five New Zealanders likely to be affected by a brain disorder in their lifetime, the work the Foundation is funding is really important,” says Mitre 10 General Manager Marketing Dave Elliott.
