Progress for integrated health care services
Progress for integrated health care services at Stratford Health Centre
The steering group leading Stratford Health Centre’s (SHC) integrated health care project is making considerable progress through consultation with local health care providers.
A stock take of current services at SHC is being completed and a consultation process with local GPs, pharmacists and other health care providers in Stratford and Eltham has begun.
Neil Volzke, Stratford Health Trust Chairman said, “Contributions and support from the local health care providers have been extremely valuable and we will continue to consult them throughout the project.”
The next phase of the project will involve further consultation with local healthcare providers and the wider community to understand their experience of services and to identify potential improvements. This includes service users and health professionals within SHC and central Taranaki.
An ‘Issues and Opportunities’ paper is currently being compiled which will become the basis for a preliminary report for wider stakeholder consultation in the future. A public forum will then be held to gain feedback on initial findings and to obtain further views.
“We hope to have a plan developed by the end of the year. Any future additional services identified in the plan to be provided from the SHC, will be available to all Stratford patients by referral from their own GP,” said Mr Volzke.
