New Zealand Psychological Society Psychology Week 9-15 November
The New Zealand Psychological Society is holding its inaugural Psychology Week 9-15 November. The theme of this week is “living life well”. This initiative aims to increase public awareness of how psychology can help people, families/whanau and communities find ways to increase their psychological wellbeing. It also aims to raise awareness of the wide variety of roles that psychologists have in the health, justice, corrections, educational, sport and other sectors.
Psychology Week will feature events involving members of the New Zealand Psychological Society across the country, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin. These include public lectures, and media articles on a range of issues including:
Positive psychology
The place of rugby in our national psychology
Psychology for a sustainable future
Understanding children
Why people deliberately hurt themselves
Managing cyber-bullying
Mindfulness in a busy world
Managing stress
How psychologists can help you
