Southern District Health Board exceeds surgery target
The Southern District Health Board exceeded the number of elective surgeries it was required to deliver in the past 12 months, meaning more people have received the help they need.
“We have again over delivered on this important target. It makes a huge difference to the lives of people who have these procedures. Elective surgeries have a positive impact on general well-being, mobility and quality of life,” Southern DHB CEO Carole Heatly said.
“We will continue to work towards meeting this target again during the next 12 months so that we deliver as many procedures as we can to people. This entails ensuring that our entire health system works as seamlessly as possible, from the family doctor through to the hospital specialist.”
“This health target is an important indicator to the community.”
“While we have some way to go to ensure that the services we provide are financially sustainable, it is positive to see that we are providing an excellent service to the community.”
