What Did You do Today? Asks Canterbury DHB's New Recruitment Campaign
Canterbury DHB is taking a ground-breaking, high-tech approach in its search for new senior staff. The board has launched a social media campaign #Whatdidyoudotoday? In the quest to find five senior leaders for its People and Capability team.

Candidates are set the novel task of making a video of themselves to showcase their skills.

The campaign promoting the new roles features videos of current employees showing how they make a difference in their workplace. Michael Frampton, General Manager of People and Capability for the Canterbury DHB, says it wanted to do something different for these strategic and people-focused roles.

“This is probably the first time senior health sector managers have applied for jobs by producing a video but we expect this innovative approach will produce exciting results.”

The recruitment campaign begins with a short video featuring Canterbury DHB staff. One video shows a woman with a sign saying ‘I witnessed life’. A second explains the woman is a midwife, and demonstrates how her work makes a difference in people’s lives.

Candidates are invited to submit their own video demonstrating how they could make a difference in the new positions of Wellness, Health and Safety Manager; three People and Capability Managers; and a People and Capability Services Manager.

Mr Frampton says the People and Capability team has contact with every part of the health system, which makes it an exciting and rewarding place to work.

“As a team, People and Capability are always trying to bring a fresh, innovative approach to what we do so we are looking for managers who share this attitude.”

Mr Frampton says applicants need to demonstrate they have leadership skills, an excellent service ethos and attitude, and that they are innovative.

“The successful candidates need to have the leadership skills to help a range of people within our organisation progress towards a common goal,’’ Michael Frampton said.

Candidates who do not want to make a video can apply via traditional methods. Details are available on our careers page:

Applications for the roles close on September 20.
