Counter-Protest Anti-Abortion Action at Planned Parenthood

Pro-Abortion Group, StopPatriarchy.org, to Counter-Protest Anti-Abortion Action at Planned Parenthood

WHERE: Planned Parenthood – Margaret Sanger Health Center

26 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012

WHEN: August 22, 2015, 9:30 a.m.

August 21, 2015. New York, New York. Raising the demands “Stop the Attack on Planned Parenthood” and “Abortion on Demand & Without Apology,” the women’s liberation group, StopPatriarchy.org, announced today they will counter-protest the anti-abortion action planned to take place at Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Health Center in New York City on Saturday, August 22, at 9:30 a.m.

The right-wing campaign against Planned Parenthood continues to escalate. The governors of Utah and Arkansas just announced plans to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood, joining Alabama, Louisiana, and New Hampshire in eliminating funds for Planned Parenthood.

“This attack on Planned Parenthood is a major move in a fascist assault to completely annihilate women’s right to abortion,” said Sunsara Taylor from Stop Patriarchy. “The fact that national government figures are openly contemplating shutting down the government over this reveals just how deadly serious they are. They want to force women to have children against their will. This is a form of enslavement and it must be STOPPED.”

Speaking to the release of highly-edited videos which claim to show Planned Parenthood officials selling fetal tissue, Taylor said, “The videos show no such thing. There is nothing wrong with abortion, and there is nothing wrong with women and Planned Parenthood donating fetal tissue for research. These are actually very good and moral things, and should be defended and fought for straight up. The attacks on Planned Parenthood should be offensive to anyone who cares about science and about women.”

“Fetal tissue is just tissue,” Taylor said, “Women are human beings.”
