Music Therapy
The Cantabrainers Choir is a therapeutic choir for people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease,
stroke and traumatic brain injury.
It aims to help people find their voice again through singing and socialising. It is inspired by the latest research
into neural plasticity or the ability to change given the right exercise.
A Music Therapist and Speech Language Therapist lead the choir using musical techniques designed to improve
communication and wellbeing. This ensures the right exercise is done in the right way, regularly and repetitively.
The Choir’s mid winter concert is to be held on 19 August 2015 at Hohepa Hall, 28 Barrington Street, Christchurch. Visit
www.therapyprofessionals.co.nz for more information. Come along and experience the power of choral singing in
neuro-rehabilitation.
