200 primary health care nurses meet in Wellington
From today in Wellington over 200 primary health care nurses from around New Zealand meet to discuss and learn of
innovation in nursing practice at their annual conference. Among the delegates are nurse practitioners and intern nurse
practitioners who are very pleased to hear about the extra funding that the Government has released to train more nurse
practitioners next year.
Among the speakers are Mike Allen, a Canadian GP who is a well-known professor of family medicine and evidence based
practice guru, and Mia Carroll, a New Zealand nurse educator with a passion for social justice and a wish for a
compassionate culture which is person / whānau centred.
Nurses will be listening to experts on family violence, child poverty and chronic condition management- all areas that
primary health care nurses are key in assisting people to manage or recover from.
