Medicines New Zealand supports Health Research with $20,000 Award

Entries for the 2015 Medicines New Zealand ‘Value of Medicines Award’ are now open. This annual award aims to showcase innovative research projects that can improve the health of kiwis through the use of medicines and vaccines.

“Our award, valued at $20,000, encourages and rewards research into medicines and vaccines in New Zealand” Medicines New Zealand Chair Heather Roy said today.

“New Zealand is home to a research community that produces an exceptionally high standard of innovative work. Medicines New Zealand believes this research should be celebrated.

“We believe the acknowledgement of innovative health research supports the Government in its goal to attract and retain our scientific talent. Medicines New Zealand is pleased to play our part by sponsoring this award”.

Previous winners of the Value of Medicines Award are Dr Swee Tan, Dr Conroy Wong, Dr Sally Evers and Professor Ian Reid. All have contributed significantly to the current and future provision of healthcare in New Zealand through their research.

Medicines New Zealand encourages any researcher or clinician whose work aims to demonstrate the value of medicines and vaccines to apply. Award criteria can be found on the Medicines New Zealand website http://www.medicinesnz.co.nz/

Entries close on 27 August 2015. The winner will be announced at the Annual Medicines New Zealand Parliamentary Dinner on 16 September.
