Busy Weekend for Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter

The Palmerston North based Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a property near Ormondville on Friday night after a woman in her 50's was involved in a motor vehicle accident after her car left the road. She sustained chest injuries and was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital. The mission was completed with the aid of Night Vision Goggles. The helicopter was dispatched due to the nature of her injuries and remote location.

Then on Saturday morning helicopter was dispatched to Taihape after a man in his 30's sustained chest injuries after a motor vehicle accident. He was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Wanganui Hospital. Shortly after landing the helicopter was then dispatched to Dannevirke after an 11 year old boy was injured in a game of rugby. He sustained a head injury after ruck collapsed. He was treated by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital. Later that night the helicopter was sent to Ohakune for a woman with a serious medical emergency. She was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Wanganui Hospital. The mission was completed with the aid of Night Vision Goggles.

Then on Sunday afternoon the helicopter was dispatched to Taihape for a man in his 50's with medical emergency. He was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Wanganui Hospital.
