Making Women’s Health a priority

In a Hawke's Bay first, three leading Health Specialists are coming together to present the first in a series of Women’s Health evenings dedicated to the management of women’s health.
On the 11th March, Havelock North Community Centre is the location for this informative evening targeted to woman of all ages wanting some great information from leading professionals.
“It has always been a dream of mine to get together some industry professionals to speak to women in this kind of forum. So often we have clients who say they wish they had access to professionals to provide information relating to women’s health issues” says Diane Stride, Dietitian based in Havelock North at the Village Health Centre and organiser of the event. “The caliber of the speakers is high and women will definitely walk away feeling better informed” Diane says.
Diane, one of the speakers herself will focus on Diet and its effect on your health.
She specialises in food allergies and intolerances and provides dietary solutions for weight management, autoimmune diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerances, pre-diabetes, PCOS and fibromyalgia, plus other health related issues. Her talk will touch on some of these aspects.
Dr. Ole Schmiedel, a medical specialist who has a doctorate in diabetes and postgraduate training in endocrinology will speak on Hormones and their effect on your weight and health. Ole treats endocrine glands, hormone and metabolic disorders. His passion is helping people with diabetes, weight and hormonal problems so will focus on this during the presentation.
Dr. Keith Harrison a gynaecologist/obstetrician who specialises in advanced endoscopic surgery for management of pelvic pain, menstrual dysfunction, endometriosis, and infertility as well as surgical treatment for pelvic prolapse and incontinence. Keith will focus on Menopause.
All the specialists are giving their time for free with all proceeds from the evening going to the Child Cancer Foundation.
Vicky Rope, Business Development Manager for the Child Cancer Foundation in Hawke's Bay says ”we are delighted to be involved with Diane and her colleagues for this inaugural event, which will not only benefit children with cancer and their families, but will be great interest to many Hawke’s Bay residents.”
