New General Manager appointed to Medicines New Zealand

The start of the New Year was marked at Medicines New Zealand by the appointment of a new General Manager, Dr. Graeme Jarvis.

Dr. Jarvis brings over 22 years’ experience in both domestic and international private sector and government organisations. He has worked in research & development, business development, and general management roles and his career has focussed on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Hon Heather Roy, Chair of Medicines New Zealand, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jarvis as our new General Manager. Graeme’s extensive management experience and in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry made him a stand out candidate for the role. We are delighted to have him on board and his arrival heralds an exciting start to 2015 for Medicines New Zealand”.

Dr. Jarvis is pleased to be continuing his association with the human pharmaceutical and vaccines sectors in New Zealand. “I am really enjoying the opportunity to work with our membership base, as we move towards the goal of obtaining optimal access to highly effective, well-researched medicines and vaccines for all New Zealanders” he said.

Dr Jarvis has both an Honours degree in Microbiology and a PhD in Microbial Biotechnology and Physiology from The University of Otago. He was also awarded a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with Distinction from Massey University.
