Another sustainability award for Waitemata DHB
Another sustainability award for Waitemata DHB
Waitemata DHB has collected a second award
recognising its commitment to providing national leadership
in environmental sustainability in healthcare.
Last night’s ‘Leadership in Environmental Sustainability by a Health Sector Organisation’ award at the Population Health Congress in Auckland follows the DHB recently becoming the first in the country to receive EnviroMark Gold certification.
“Over recent years, we have carefully invested in ensuring the environmental footprint we leave is as small as possible,” said Chief Executive Dr Dale Bramley.
“From encouraging our staff to use public transport and cycle to and from work to recycling as much of our waste as possible and even having sustainability considerations influence the design of our new buildings, we have taken a strategic approach to ensuring our daily operations are low-impact and environmentally responsible.
“It is wonderful to see the Waitemata team involved in delivering these initiatives being recognised for their good work because, in many ways, they are pioneers in New Zealand healthcare.”
Waitemata DHB Sustainability Officer Michael Field said “it is often forgotten that the very best designed sustainability programmes fail without the support of every member of staff, so this award very much belongs to them, in recognition of their efforts and commitment to sustainability”.
