'The New Zealand Animal Law Association: Official Launch Function'
By way of introduction, my name is Lucy Leadbetter and I am the publicity officer for a newly formed non-profit organisation called the New Zealand Animal Law Association. We were formed in September this year, and already have a membership of well over 100 lawyers throughout the country, and the Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG Australia as our honorary patron.
Our key goal is to improve the welfare and lives of animals through the legal system, and to promote and grow the field of animal law within New Zealand. Related objectives include improving the knowledge of animal law within the legal community and wider public by hosting public lectures and seminars; facilitating animal law scholarship by publishing articles on animal law and encouraging the adoption of animal law courses at New Zealand law schools; and promoting positive legislative reform. It is our official launch function on 8 October 2014 at the offices of Russell McVeagh, Level 30, Vero Centre, 48 Shortland Street, Auckland. We are interested in getting media along to promote our group, as we rely on donations from the general public for funding. We would love to have you come and cover our event, or promote it through your agency. We would hugely appreciate any support you can offer.
