Palmerston North nurse honoured
Palmerston North nurse, Nicki Twigge was honoured for her service to the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) at an
awards ceremony in Wellington last night.
Nicki has a background is Specialist Palliative Care, working in an advanced nursing role which includes expertise in
palliative knowledge and skills as well as leadership in this speciality area
She has worked for over a decade as a Palliative Care Coordinator and Team Leader at Arohanui Hospice.
NZNO president Marion Guy presented the award, “Nicki is held in high regard amongst her work colleagues who appreciate
her strengths in building relationships, her visionary and fresh approach to situations and her willingness to take
risks in order to seize opportunities.”
“Nicki’s networking skills, strong and supportive management style are assets to NZNO as well as her colleagues at
Arohanui.
Nicki is an active NZNO delegate, promoting NZNO and advocating for nurses. She holds many other roles within the
organisation.
Marion Guy says, “NZNO wouldn’t function without the hard work and passion of people like Nicki. I am pleased to have
this opportunity to thank her for work and commitment to our organisation and to nursing.”
