Hawkes Bay nurse honoured
Hawkes Bay nurse, Rosemary McGillicuddy was honoured for her service to nursing and midwifery at an awards ceremony in Wellington last night.
Rose is a senior staff nurse at Hawkes Bay DHB, an active NZNO regional council member and workplace delegate. She has spent many years promoting nursing, nurses and health.
NZNO Kaiwhakahaere, Kerri Nuku in presenting the award said, “Rose advocates for the rights of nurses in every way – from having an NZNO notice board at work right through to developing processes that promote quality and safety in nursing practice”.
Rose holds monthly meetings with the Clinical Nurse Manager to provide transparency and open communication to help resolve issues together with management. She is an active member of her NZNO regional council and was integral to the success of International Nurses Day this year where Hawke’s Bay nursing was showcased to the public.
Kerri Nuku says, “Rose may not see herself as a leader but the consensus in the hospital is that Rose is the perfect delegate who not only advocates for nurses but also practices in a manner to which everyone aspires .”
“NZNO wouldn’t function without the hard work and passion of people like Rose. I am pleased to have this opportunity to thank her for her work and commitment to our organisation. Thank you Rose!”
