Blog: Nursing in Ebola country
New Zealand Red Cross has deployed a third nurse to Sierra Leone to join an international Red Cross team responding to
the Ebola crisis. In addition to the international medical teams, Red Cross has almost 3,000 trained volunteers from the
most affected villages, and to date has had no cases of contamination. This can be attributed to a strict adherence to
protocol and high level of discipline in field activities.

International Day of the Disappeared – 30 August 2014
This day gives us a chance to recognise the numbers of people still missing through conflict, disaster and migration -
and show solidarity with their families who remain in limbo waiting to clarify the fate of their loved ones. The New
Zealand Red Cross Restoring Family Links service works to restore and maintain contact between family members and
clarify the fate of persons reported missing.
