Patient Safety Progress Highlights Value of Clinical Engagement
“The progress being made at MidCentral District Health Board to improve patient safety highlights the benefits of
clinical engagement,” says Ian Powell, Executive Director of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists (ASMS).
He was commenting on the latest report from the Health Quality & Safety Commission, measuring the work DHBs have put in to reduce patient harm in the first three months of this year.
The report shows MidCentral DHB is making good progress in preventing surgical site infection, with room for further
improvement.
“Hospital specialists, like all health professionals, are committed to providing the best possible and safest care for
patients,” says Mr Powell.
“The progress being made in this area is a good example of the value of the clinical engagement occurring at MidCentral,
with doctors and management working together to improve patient care.”
