Every year, ACC receives around 1.7 million claims – so, as you can imagine, there are unlimited ways you can injure yourself.
“Injuries can happen anyhow, anywhere, at any time, says ACC’s Head of Insurance Products and Injury Prevention, David Simpson, “but there are simple things Kiwis can do to avoid the most common causes of injury.”
We’ve outlined some basic injury prevention tips below.

Simple tips to help Kiwis prevent
injuries
At home:
• wipe up
spills as soon as they happen
• run power cords
along walls, not across walkways
• fasten loose
rugs and mats to the floor
On the
road:
• don’t exceed posted speed
limits
• don’t drink and drive
•
drive to the conditions
If taking part in sports and
recreation:
• warm up and cool down
•
build up your fitness gradually – don’t throw yourself
back into full-on activity after a long break
