New beginnings for Cargill care home
Cargill Care Home is now part of the Bupa Care Services group of care homes and retirement villages, New Zealand’s
largest aged care provider.
This is part of Bupa’s acquisition of three care homes in the South Island in October 2013 from Oceania Group. Located
on Cargill Street in Waikiwi, Invercargill Cargill is a 40 bed rest home co-located with a small retirement village
featuring 27 residential units.
Leaders in aged care in New Zealand Bupa have an emphasis on quality and staff training. Bupa’s philosophy of care will
be integrated into resident care plans at Cargill where the focus is person centred. This means every resident is
understood as an individual and their care is customised according to their personal preferences.
“We are delighted to welcome staff and residents from Cargill into the Bupa family.” said Gráinne Moss, Managing
Director of Bupa. “We look forward to working with the families and residents in understanding what is best for them as
individuals.”
Bupa currently operates 56 care homes nationwide, offering a combination of rest home and hospital level care serving
over 4000 residents. They also operate 26 retirement villages comprising of 1000 units and apartments. In addition to
care and lifestyle living, Bupa provide personal medical alarms to over 13,000 New Zealanders living in the community.
