Qantas Takes Cure Kids Ambassadors on a Trip of a Lifetime
AUCKLAND 9 May, 2014: Today marks a ten year partnership between Cure Kids and Qantas, as six Auckland-based children living with life-threatening illnesses are taken on a trip of a lifetime on the annual ‘Ticket to Hope Australia.’
The ‘Ticket to Hope Australia’ program provides children supported by the organisation and its volunteers with the chance to get away, relax and take a break from an often arduous routine of treatments and illness management.
This year’s trip to Brisbane, is an exciting three-day itinerary including a day at Dream World theme park, a visit to the Australian Zoo as well as a meet and greet with Canterbury rugby heroes, the Crusaders at the teams pre-match ‘Captain’s Run’.
Qantas Regional General Manager for New Zealand, Igor Kwiatkowski said Qantas was proud to support Cure Kids for the tenth year.
“Cure Kids is an organisation we have been proud to support for ten years and Ticket to Hope Australia is just one way we show our support to make a difference in these children’s and their parents lives,” said Mr Kwiatkowski.
“Our aim with Ticket to Hope Australia is to put a smile on the faces of these amazing Kiwi kids, and this year’s itinerary has been created to add a little extra money can’t buy experience with a meet and greet with players from the Crusaders.”
Cure Kids CEO, Vicki Lee, said “We are grateful to Qantas for the support they give Cure Kids and our ambassadors on Ticket to Hope Australia. Each one of our ambassadors lives with a potentially life-threatening condition and it’s wonderful that Qantas enables this weekend away, creating memories our kids will treasure forever.”
“When a child is born with a life-threatening illness, their family lives with the hope that one day a cure will be found. Cure Kids is about keeping that hope alive through the research we fund.”
Cure Kids is a charity that raises funds for medical research for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Funds raised by the organisation are channelled directly into research projects that aim to improve treatments and prolong lives whilst we go for the ultimate goal – a cure.
Qantas is the international travel partner for Cure Kids and has been a partner with the charity since 2004.
