ALRANZ Supports Suspended Doctor and Unlawful Abortions

Why does ALRANZ Support Violence Against Women?

Sabrina Muck, a spokesperson for the Abortion Law Reform Association .made a media release on 16 April following the suspension of a rural doctor known as Dr N, by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. The doctor had been found guilty of professional misconduct for prescribing the dangerous drug Misoprostol to four women for the purpose of procuring an unlawful abortion.

The professional misconduct was very serious and endangered the health and lives of the four desperate women.The women were not offered counselling. They were not warned of the potential complications that could result, for example a loss of blood that might require hospitalisation and a transfusion. If an abortion did occur it may not be complete and the women would require hospitalisation. At least one of the patients did not have a clinical examination. The prescribing was kept secret with the doctor not recording on the patient’ notes her unlawful actions.

It is indefensible for ALRANZ to refuse to express concern at the serious breaches of the law that are on our statute books for the purpose of protecting women and their priceless unborn. It must be concluded that on the agenda of ALRANZ, women’s health is secondary to the objective of promoting the decriminalisation of abortion.

Abortion is part of a culture of death, it is evil, it thrives in darkness and is supported and sustained by lies. Abortion is not a health service, it is violence against women and their precious unborn.
Abortion is not a human right. It is dishonest and a falsehood for ALRANZ to constantly claim that; “The criminalisation of abortion in New Zealand is in direct contravention of international treaties to which New Zealand is a signatory, especially with respect to the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women [CEDAW]”

New Zealand was the first country to sign CEDAW.There were 185 States that signed this important Convention without any reservation to Article 12.The pro- abortion movement claims that Article 12 includes abortion, this is false and a great disservice to women. The Article reads;

Article 12

1. States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to eliminate discrimination against women in the field of health care in order to ensure, on a basis of equality of men and women, access to health care services, including those related to family planning.

2. Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph 1 of this Article, States Parties shall ensure to women appropriate services in connection with pregnancy, confinement and the post-natal period, granting free services where necessary, as well as adequate nutrition during pregnancy and lactation.

Right to Life urges our friends in ALRANZ to adopt the authentic feminist position by joining us in opposing the war against women and in promoting a culture of life.
