Jennian Homes Mother’s Day Run/Walk “Support your mum”
Thousands of women across the country are expected to take part in the Jennian Homes Mother’s Day fun run and walk on May 11.
The event returns across New Zealand this year, building on the success of previous years’ events.
Beginning in Nelson in 2009, the Fun Run/Walk has been held on a national level since 2012 with each Jennian franchise now staging a local event on Mother’s Day in support of the Heart Foundation’s Go Red for Woman Campaign, which aims to improve the heart health of New Zealand women and raise money for research.
“It’s a fun morning focused on encouraging women to take time out of their busy schedules to make their own health a priority,” says Jennian Homes Director Richard Carver.
“With 48 women dying each week from Heart disease in New Zealand, the public needs to be aware of the seriousness of looking after yourself and your heart. Jennian Homes is committed to working with the Heart Foundation to fund research, raise awareness, reduce risk and keep families together for longer.
We see the annual event as a great way to encourage women to get out and be active, have some fun with the ones they love while spreading a very important message.”
The events are not designed to be competitive, with participants free to complete the course at their own pace meaning that women of all ages and fitness levels are able to take part. It is common to see three generations from one family participating together.
“Last year we had approximately 5000 entrants across the country and we’re looking forward to the Jennian Homes Mother’s Day Fun Run/Walk becoming an iconic annual event with tens of thousands of Kiwi women taking part,” says Mr Carver.
Register for the Mother’s Day fun run and walk at jennian.co.nz before Thursday 1 May and receive a free event T-shirt while stocks last.
