Kiwi households encouraged to book an appointment with their dentist
New Zealand Dental Association (NZDA), Colgate-Palmolive and Countdown launch promotion to encourage Kiwis to get their teeth checked.
In what’s believed to be a New Zealand first, 190 dental practices are each offering twenty five $35 dental check-up discount vouchers through a new promotion with Colgate and Countdown supermarkets. The promotion is available to any adult who buys the new Colgate Maximum Cavity Protection plus Sugar Acid NeutraliserTM toothpaste from a Countdown supermarket prior to 13 April, 2014 (while vouchers last).
Dr David Crum, NZDA CEO, said:
“As Colgate launches yet another advance in beneficial toothpastes, NZDA dentists are joining in to further increase patients attending regularly for dental examinations. Early detection of dental disease is an important part of preventing cavities which can lead to tooth loss.”
The month long promotion is being promoted at all of Countdown’s 167 supermarkets nationwide. Customers (over 18 years) who purchase Colgate’s Maximum Cavity Protection plus Sugar Acid NeutraliserTM toothpaste can register online prior to 31 May, 2014, for one dental check-up discount voucher per household. Appointments must be made before 30 June 2014 and completed by 30 December 2014.
The promotion has been timed with Colgate’s launch of its breakthrough toothpaste that includes Sugar Acid NeutraliserTM technology. The new toothpaste, the only one of its kind in the world, reduces early decay by half (after six months’ use) by neutralising sugar acids in the mouth before they can weaken tooth enamel. Its development was the result of eight years of research involving over 14,000 people.
Colgate Scientific Affairs Manager, Dr Rebecca Schipper, said that New Zealanders had a comparatively high awareness of oral health but that didn’t necessarily translate into action.
“Over the years, I’ve seen hundreds of patients requiring treatment for decay from fillings right through to requiring urgent hospital treatment.”
“Our new toothpaste with Sugar Acid NeutraliserTM directly fights sugar acids in plaque - the number one cause of cavities. The technology works to create a healthy environment for the teeth by helping deactivate sugar acids before they can harm teeth while the fluoride promotes remineralisation of the teeth,” she said.
The promotion period runs until midnight 13 April 2014 (while vouchers last).
