ACC will cover all medical treatment for Sakurako Uehara
Following the serious dog attack on seven year old Sakurako Uehara earlier this week ACC will be covering the cost of all her medical treatment, including any necessary surgery and ongoing treatment relating to the injury, effective immediately. ACC may also be able to provide further entitlements depending on her injury related needs.
We are meeting with the family at the earliest opportunity to explain how we can help them, and what we can do for Sakurako. ACC staff will also be working with the hospital to ensure all Sakurako's medical needs are met.
As a no-fault scheme ACC provides cover to overseas visitors for injury-related needs incurred in New Zealand - while they are in the country.
Like all New Zealanders, ACC staff are deeply saddened that this has occurred, and are committed to providing the full range of support that is available to Sakurako and her family.
