The
retirement of Health Minister Tony Ryall
The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners acknowledges the contribution Health Minister Tony Ryall has made during his five-and-a-half year tenure.
College President Dr Tim Malloy said Mr Ryall has made a concerted effort to understand the needs of the health sector during his time as Minister and has been a strong advocate of improving the health of New Zealanders.
“I have always found Mr Ryall accessible and open to debate and discussion. He has been receptive to the needs of primary care and his understanding of the changes in public health has been welcomed.
“His work in strengthening the accountability within the health sector to funders and, most importantly, the public and also for promoting preventive medicine has been good for the sector, patients and the communities in which they live.
“We wish Mr Ryall well in his next ventures after his retirement from Parliament”.
