The 2014 IHC Annual Appeal has been launched to raise important financial resources so IHC can continue to support people with intellectual disability in the community. The Annual Appeal will run from February 7th to the end of March.
This year the Annual Appeal focuses on people who care for family members with an intellectual disability, and draws attention to the many struggles they face every day.
“IHC hopes to raise $300,000 through this year’s Annual Appeal. It will make a real difference to people living with intellectual disabilities and the families in need” says IHC National Manager Fundraising Development, Adele Blackwood.
“All New Zealanders can support families caring for loved ones with an intellectual disability simply by giving to the IHC Annual Appeal this February and March,” says Adele.
The money that is raised by the Annual Appeal and throughout the year is spent on the non-Government funded areas of IHC’s services. For example it provides things like the one-to-one volunteer friendship programme, and helping people with intellectual disability become advocates in their own right both for themselves and others.
IHC General Manager of Programmes, Janine Stewart, says: “If you are someone who gives to the IHC Annual Appeal, thank you for your generosity, you really help to make a positive difference in your local community and right throughout New Zealand.”
“Your generosity enables IHC to advocate for the rights, welfare and inclusion of all people with intellectual disability and to help them to live meaningful lives.”
Donations can be made through the IHC website, www.ihc.org.nz (click ‘Donate online’), or post your donation to IHC Fundraising, PO Box 1757, Wellington 6140.
