This week we commemorate World Cancer Day. Right to Life congratulates the New Zealand Cancer Society and the New
Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation for the successful research of international importance that is being undertaken to
understand the link between obesity and breast cancer. The world is facing an epidemic of breast cancer and New Zealand
has one of the highest rates of breast cancer; it also has one of the highest rates of abortion. It is a human tragedy
that each year 650 women die in New Zealand from breast cancer.
Every year 2800 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Ninety five per cent of women contracting breast cancer are over
the age of forty. Right to Life requests that in the interest of women’s health the Cancer Society and the Breast Cancer
Foundation urgently fund research into the abortion breast cancer link. Abortion promotes a culture of death and is a
war against women and their precious unborn. Our women have a right to know that not only does an abortion kill their
child it may also painfully kill them too.
Since the results of a Japanese study in 1957, the world has known that women who have an abortion increase their risk
of abortion three fold. There are many studies that have been conducted worldwide that provide irrefutable proof of the
link between abortion and breast cancer. Abortions are promoted as being “safe “for women; they are not. There is a
conspiracy of silence based on political correctness and a refusal to acknowledge the fact that abortion hurts women.
Dr Joel Brind PhD, an internationally renowned researcher, completed a mega – analysis of twenty three international
studies in 1996 and found that eighteen studies disclosed a link between abortion and breast cancer. Recent studies have
been completed in Sri Lanka, China, India, Bangladesh, Iran and Turkey which revealed a substantial increase in breast
cancer following an abortion. There has been a 40 per cent increase in breast cancer in China since the introduction of
its one child family policy with forced abortions in 1979.
Women under the age of eighteen who have an abortion double the risk of breast cancer. The more abortions a woman has,
the greater her risk of developing breast cancer.
A stunning new meta-analysis on the ABC link has just been published in a peer-reviewed cancer journal. Described as
“Chinese Abortion-Breast Cancer bombshell” the meta-analysis of 36 Chinese studies from 14 provinces in China shows abortion increases breast cancer risk by 44%. Dr. Brind comments: “Noteworthy is that the Huang study follows right on the heels of two new studies this year from
India and Bangladesh, studies which reported breast cancer risk increases of unprecedented magnitude: over 600% and over
2,000%, respectively, among women who had any induced abortions.”
One in four women in New Zealand has an abortion. One in ten women will develop breast cancer.The Abortion Supervisory Committee has refused requests from Right to Life, that women considering an abortion be given
any information on the link between abortion and breast cancer.The New Zealand Cancer Society and the New Zealand Family Planning Association, refuses to accept that there is a link
between abortion and breast cancer. Doctors who refuse to provide this important information to women are leaving
themselves open to being sued for failing to inform them. The day is fast approaching when the medical profession and
the advocates for abortion will be overwhelmed with the evidence of the ABC link and it’s time for New Zealand to wake
up.
