Royal health appointment for Dame June Mariu

Esteemed Maori leader Dame June Mariu is to be appointed by King Tuheitia as the patron for Maori public health provider Hapai Te Hauora. After 18 years of ongoing support and advocacy Hapai Te Hauora continue to support improved health environments for Maori by enabling Maori communities to have a say on their health and wellbeing.
On the morning of Friday 31st January, Dame June will be presented with a royal warrant to mark the role. Lance Norman, CEO of Hapai Te Hauora sees this as a significant step in improving Maori ownership of Maori health gain. "Dame June will be feeding back to the king so he can consider Maori health priorities at his events and in his circle of influence", says Mr Norman.
Dame June was chosen for her standing within the community. "We look forward to enhancements in Maori health with this association to both the king and Dame June", says Mr Norman.
The ceremony will take place at Hoani Waititi Marae at 10am.
