North Canterbury Health Hub planning well underway
Progress is being made on the North Canterbury Health Hub project despite ongoing challenges in a heated construction market.
Carolyn Gullery, Canterbury District Health Board General Manager Planning and Funding, says tenders for the Project Manager are being reviewed are expected to be announced before Christmas and the Architect/Designer appointments will follow in the New Year.
“We should hopefully be able to announce this fairly soon,” Carolyn says.
“All going to plan, we should have some design concepts ready after the New Year.”
Over the next month work will also get under way to remove of large tree stumps on the site.
“To keep the community informed on progress we are putting signs outside the site, which will be regularly updated.”
Canterbury DHB is currently managing 160 repairs and building projects, excluding the Burwood and Christchurch Hospital facilities redevelopment.
“There are a lot of things happening across the Canterbury Health System and we’re pleased that all Canterbury DHB projects have been delivered on budget to date. This is thanks to tight project management which has kept things on track in what is an increasingly heated construction market,” Carolyn says.
“However, it is going to be an ongoing challenge as timelines intersect and we juggle people, space and construction demands.”
Carolyn says the Canterbury DHB appreciate the community’s ongoing support and intends to provide further updates at public meetings planned for February and March next year.
