Sealy raises thousands for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation is set to receive more than $12,000 thanks to bed manufacturer Sealy NZ and four renowned local creatives.

Otis Frizzell, Kelly Thompson, Hollie Smith and Tanya Carlson each designed a unique print to cover a bespoke Sealy bed for auctioning on TradeMe.

The auction closed on Monday night and the beds generated enthusiastic bidding reaching around $3,000 each. The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation CEO Van Henderson is thrilled with the result.

“We are delighted that the Sealy designer beds have generated $12,390 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. This was a fabulous creative idea by Sealy to raise interest and vital funds to support women with breast cancer,” says Henderson.

The designer beds ambassadors are delighted to have been able to help such a deserving charity.

"Like most New Zealanders, I have known someone affected by breast cancer. It has been an absolute privilege to work with Sealy on this project to raise money for the charity to support the amazing work they do assisting those fighting this awful disease," says fashion designer Tanya Carlson.

Artist Otis Frizzell is equally pleased with the results. "I'm totally stoked to have been involved with the Sealy designer beds project raising money and awareness for breast cancer. My bed got $2,710 - that's awesome,” says Frizzell.

Fashion illustrator Kelly Thompson has expressed her gratitude to have had such a positive impact on the charity. “It’s always a pleasure to help a fantastic cause that supports women in need,” says Thompson.

Musician Hollie Smith is also “delighted to have lent a helping hand”.
