Calling all sportsmen and women: ACC ActiveSmart needs your bodies!
ACC and AUT University are looking for active New Zealanders, of all ages and fitness levels, to take part in a trial of the effectiveness of ActiveSmart - a free online site that provides customised fitness training plans.
ActiveSmart, set up by ACC, aims to encourage Kiwis of all ages and fitness levels to be more active, but in a safe manner that won’t result in injury. Its customised plans are created by fitness experts, and cover walking, running, cycling, and multidiscipline options.
The trial aims to evaluate the current use of ActiveSmart, and to find ways of maximising its value to active New Zealanders.
“ActiveSmart’s plans take into account your current level of fitness; any health issues, and your future fitness goals. It can help whether you’re just starting out, starting again, or building up for a big event,” says ACC’s Sport Programme Manager Isaac Carlson.
People keen to take part in the trial will need to sign up to participate in any of New Zealand’s popular sporting events, including:
• The Auckland
Marathon
• The Unitec Run Walk Official Lead-up races
to the Auckland Marathon
• The Taupo Cycle
Challenge
• A Corporate Challenge event in Auckland,
Wellington, or Christchurch
• The Rotorua
Ekiden
• The Rotorua Running
Festival.
“Participants in this trial will be helping Kiwis to prepare better; train smarter, and enjoy their chosen sport injury-free for longer,” says Mr Carlson.
“We want people to get the best out of ActiveSmart, and to reach their goals, regardless of their fitness level.“
