Epilepsy New Zealand Makes New Appointment for Waikato
Epilepsy New Zealand, the country’s largest specialist epilepsy service provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Annette Stott as the new service representative for the Waikato/Coromandel area, based in Hamilton.
Joining Epilepsy New Zealand’s Waikato branch with a Bachelor of Health Sciences specialising in disabilities, Maori health and health & aging, Annette is looking forward to establishing strong relationships with the epilepsy community.
Epilepsy New Zealand’s nationwide team of Epilepsy Information & Support Specialists are responsible for providing support to those who have epilepsy and their families / whanau, raising public awareness and educating the community about epilepsy. One of Annette’s roles will be to organise seminars on the understanding of epilepsy, encouraging people to learn more about the condition. Increased knowledge will help in reducing the stigma many have about people with epilepsy, and encouraging everyone to see the person and not the epilepsy; especially in employment.
From an extensive background in the health and community sectors, Annette already has knowledge of epilepsy and public awareness, with seven years experience working as an Epilepsy New Zealand Information & Support Specialist in the Gisborne area.
“I am really looking forward to supporting people with epilepsy in the Waikato area”, Annette says. “There is a lot of variety involved in the job and I am excited about connecting with the health professionals in this area, such as neurologists and health care centres”.
Annette is also excited about connecting with a range of people in the Waikato as she is very experienced in working along side a variety of different cultures in the community.
Annette is available for appointments in Hamilton or in the outlying areas when visiting to meet individuals or families, presenting seminars at schools, community groups and working along side health professionals. Contact with Annette can be made through the free phone help line 0800202122, by emailing waikato@epilepsy.org.nz or online at www.epilepsy.org.nz.
