What Makes Canterbury Feel All Right? Look At a Bus Shelter!

What Makes Canterbury Feel All Right? Look At a Bus Shelter!

Bus shelters across Christchurch are this month promoting the little things people do in our city to feel good.

All Right is a campaign designed to help Cantabrians think about our mental health and wellbeing and ways to improve it.

Sue Turner, All Right manager, says the campaign is helping put wellbeing at forefront of the recovery.

“Everyone has their own ideas on what makes them feel good. By collecting people’s ideas and sharing them with others in their suburb we’re reminding people of the very simple things we can do to take care of ourselves and each other,” Sue says.

“The messages we’re sharing are not  rocket science – improving your wellbeing can be as simple as a trip to the park with the kids, a coffee and catch-up with mates, and or sharing homemade pumpkin soup on a cold night. But who are we to argue with what people are telling us works for them?”

Sue Turner says 40 different bus shelter advertisements were put up around Christchurch a fortnight ago, and a further 40 will go up this Sunday.

“As far as we know this is the first time a campaign has used local voices on local bus shelters and feedback has been fantastic.

“Seeing local people’s ideas on bus shelters around the city is a great start as we work towards having a community conversation about wellbeing in Canterbury,” Sue says.

Ms Turner says the question mark is crucial to the All Right? brand because the campaign also supports people who are really not all right to find the support services they need.
