Appointment of new Executive Officer to the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA)
NZSA recently appointed Renu Borst, former Corporate Services Manager of the Central Regions Technical Advisory Services (TAS), as the Society’s new Executive Officer.
Renu Borst was officially welcomed by NZSA President, Dr Rob Carpenter, and introduced to members at the Society’s Annual General Meeting held during the 13th International Congress of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia which was co-hosted by the Society at Sky City Convention Centre, Auckland.
NZSA is a not-for-profit charitable society which promotes the safe practice of anaesthesia by promoting scientific meetings, providing other educational opportunities to its members, and engaging with other professional medical organisations and government agencies.
The NZSA is a member of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) and is represented by Professor Alan Merry and Dr Wayne Morriss who were appointed to the WFSA Executive this year. Professor Alan Merry, who is currently Head of the School of Medicine at the University of Auckland and Chair of the Health Quality and Safety Commission, was appointed as Deputy Treasurer and Dr Wayne Morriss, a Consultant Anaesthetist at Christchurch Hospital, was appointed as Chair of the Education Committee of the WFSA.
